38th National Red Snooker Champ begins

The 38th National Red Snooker Championship formally began on Thursday at Uttara Club Limited in the capital. The sponsor of the competition is Altamash Kabir, the Publisher and Editor of the Daily Sangbad. Bangladesh Billiard & Snooker Federation has arranged the gala snooker meet with the assistance of Uttara Club Limited.

To mark the ensuing gala snooker meet, a press conference was held at Dhaka Bank Lounge in Uttara Club on the same day. President of Bangladesh Billiard & Snooker Federation (BBSF) Brigadier General (Retd) Sarker Muhammad Shamsuddin, President of Uttara Club Limited Mohammad Faisal Taher, General Secretary of BBSF Riyasat Kabir Bhuiyan, Joint-Secretary of BBSF Sultan Mohammad Faruque were present at the conference, among others. A total of 206 billiard & snooker players including one female player will take part in the competition. The budget of the competition has been estimated at Taka 10 lakh.

The champion will be awarded Taka one lakh, while the runner-up will get taka fifty thousand. The third-place achiever and the fourth-place achiever will get Taka fifty thousand each.

The billiard & snooker players from host Uttara Club, Dhaka Club, Gulshan Club, Banani Club, Chittagong Club and many other reputed organisations will compete in the tournament. The meet will be held on knock out basis. The competition will come to an end on May 31.
