BGB Public Relations Officer Shariful Islam confirmed the development.
Among the 330 who entered Bangladesh, there are 302 BGP members, four family members of the BGP members, two army personnel, 18 immigration members and four non-military citizens, he said.
BGB Director General (DG) Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, Myanmar Ambassador to Bangladesh Aung Kyaw Moe and other top officials of both the countries were present during the handover ceremony.
Earlier, a statement sent from the BGB on Wednesday said: “Some 330 Myanmar BGP and other armed forces, who took shelter in Bangladesh due to the internal fight in their country, will be handed over to the Myanmar authorities under the supervision of BGB at Inani Beach Navy Jetty Ghat in Cox’s Bazar on Thursday.
A total of 330 members of Myanmar border and security forces fled to Bangladesh between February 4 and 7 to avoid the ongoing clashes with the Arakan Army, prompting discussion between the two countries on their return.
The rebel group Arakan Army recently captured a town in Rakhine State, which led to intense fighting in nearby areas.
