AID FROM JULY MARTYRS MEMORIAL FOUNDATION: 30 injured students get Tk1 lakh each

The July Martyrs Memorial Foundation has provided financial assistance of Tk1 lakh each to 30 individuals in the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, who were injured during recent student-led July Uprising.

The checks were distributed on Sunday afternoon 2:45pm in room 617 on the fifth floor of the burn unit.

Notable attendees included Information Adviser Nahid Islam, Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud and Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdho, the brother of the deceased student protester Mir Mahfuzur Rahman Mugdho and also general secretary of the foundation.

Following the check distribution, Snigdho said: “We established this foundation with the promise of providing Tk5 lakh to the families of the martyrs and a maximum of Tk1 lakh to each injured individual. Additionally, further financial support will be offered.”

He added that 33 individuals at the National Institute of Ophthalmology will receive Tk3,323,100, while 59 individuals treated at the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Nitor) will receive Tk5,931,300.

“To date, we have provided assistance amounting to Tk1.7 crore, benefiting 176 individuals,” he added.

In addition to the check distribution, the advisers engaged in conversations with the injured students, who provided various suggestions.

Brigadier General Md Asaduzzaman, director of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, was also present at the event.
