The court granted bail to 30 of the 47 leaders and activists of Ishwardi BNP who were sentenced to death, life and 10 years imprisonment for the past five years in the case of firing on Sheikh Hasina’s train. Justice ASM Abdul Mobin and Justice Mahmud Hasan Talukder of the joint bench of the 11th court of Bijay-71 of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Tuesday (August 27) granted bail to the prisoners after the hearing. Advocate Jamil Akhtar Elahi confirmed the bail of 30 BNP leaders.
He said that the life sentence bailees are Aminul Islam Amin, Azad Hossain Khokon, Ismail Hossain, Alauddin Biswas, Shamsur Rahman Shimua, Anichur Rahman alias Sekom, Nurul Islam Akkel, Mohammad Ravi, Enam, Abul Kashem, Kala Babu, Mamun, Momin alias Mamun, Salim Ahmed, Kallol, Tuhin, Shah Alam Liton, Abdullah Al Mamun, Tahazul Islam Laiju, Abdul Jabbar, Palash, Abdul Hakim Tenu, Alamgir, Abul Kalam Azad and AKM Ferozul Islam Payal.
The 13 who were sentenced to ten years of rigorous imprisonment who got bail are UP Chairman Nefaur Rahman (VP Raju), Ajmal Hossain, Anwar Hossain Johnny, Rono, Barkat Ali, Chand Ali, Enamul Kabir, Moktar, Hafizur Rahman Mukul, Humayun Kabir Dulal, Jamrul, Tuhin bin Siddique and Fazlur Rahman are authentic.
It is reported that 4 people died during the trial and 3 died in prison after the verdict. Humayun Kabir Dulal Sardar, Muktar Hossain are currently out on bail due to physical illness. Tahajul Islam Laiju died while undergoing treatment at home after being released on bail due to illness.
