NN Online:

A special three-tiered security system has been implemented at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) as BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is heading to London for advanced medical treatment on Tuesday via air ambulance which is a specially equipped aircraft for the swift transfer of critically ill patients and emergency operations.

The special air ambulance sent by the Emir of Qatar landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday at 7:30pm. The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has taken special precautions due to the large number of BNP leaders and supporters arriving at the airport to bid farewell to the party chairperson.

Outside the airport, security will be reinforced by the Airport Armed Police, along with members from the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Detective Branch (DB), and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams.

Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Chairman Air Vice Marshal Mohammad Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan said, “Khaleda Zia will leave Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for London around 10pm on Tuesday for treatment. We anticipate that BNP leaders and supporters will come to the airport during this time. We have made all necessary arrangements for their security. I have personally inspected some key locations already.

“Security personnel, including AVSEC and APBn, will be deployed here. We will ensure that there are no issues for her [Khaleda Zia] outside or inside the airport. Additionally, we will take every possible measure to ensure that other passengers do not face any security problems.”

BNP Standing Committee Member Dr AZM Zahid Hossain confirmed that if everything goes as planned, Khaleda Zia will leave Dhaka on the special air ambulance sent by the Emir of Qatar at 10pm on Tuesday. She will depart from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, heading to Doha and then to Heathrow International Airport in London.

The special air ambulance sent by the Emir of Qatar is a high-speed Airbus A-319 equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities. Manufactured by Airbus in France, this advanced aircraft is capable of providing optimal medical care for patients in emergency situations. The air ambulance can essentially be described as a flying hospital.
