In a heartbreaking incident, three teenagers lost their lives after being struck by a train in Mirsharai upazila of Chattogram on Thursday night.
The tragedy occurred in the Madhyam Sonapahar area under Jorarganj union around 8:00pm.
The deceased have been identified as Arafat Hossain (18), Anis (18), and Riaz (18), all residents of Madhyam Sonapahar village.
According to Shahidul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of the Chattogram Government Railway Police (GRP), the three friends, along with two others, were sitting and chatting on the railway tracks when they were hit by a Dhaka-bound train. Tragically, Arafat, Anis, and Riaz died on the spot, while the other two narrowly escaped with minor injuries.
Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain why the group failed to notice the approaching train.
The incident has cast a pall of grief over the local community, as families and residents mourn the untimely loss of the young.
