Chattogram Bureau :
Three policemen were killed when a police van was hit by a train in Sitakunda of Chattogram.
The accident took place at Salimpur-Fakirhat railway crossing in Sitakunda at 12:00pm on Sunday.
The three deceased were constables. They are Iskandar (40), Hossain (35), and Mizan (30).
The other 3threeinjured are SI Sujan Saha (30), Shahadat Member (40), and microbus driver Police Constable Samar Kumar Saha.
Confirming the matter, Chattogram Railway Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Fauzdarhat Outpost Farooq told media that the Inter-City Express Sonar Bangla was entering Chattogram at approximately 12:00pm.
As the rail crossing bar was raised, the pick-up van was knocked down by the Sonar Bangla train as soon as it entered the crossing. One died on the spot.
The other two died on the way.
SI Farooq also said that the policemen were working at Sitakund police station.
They were going to arrest the accused along with a union council member.
Nurul Alam Ashek, in-charge of Chattogram Medical Police Outpost, said that the deceased have been kept in the mortuary.
And the injured have been admitted to casualty and other wards.
