In the last 24 hours, three more people have died of dengue, while 565 patients were admitted to hospitals.
According to the dengue report from the Directorate General of Health Services on Thursday, 320 of the newly admitted patients are from Dhaka City Corporation, with the rest coming from outside the Dhaka city limits.
So far this year, a total of 96,627 dengue patients have been hospitalized. Among them, 94,403 patients have been discharged, while 394 have died.
Professor Dr. Atikur Rahman, an expert physician, said dengue is now occurring year-round and increases during the rainy season. He emphasized the importance of using mosquito repellents and conducting widespread awareness campaigns. He urged everyone to remain vigilant.
Entomologist Dr. Monjur Chowdhury added that mosquito control cannot rely solely on fines and public awareness. Proper surveys and appropriate measures by trained personnel are necessary.
In 2023, the country recorded a historic high of 321,179 dengue cases and 1,705 deaths.
