NN Online:
At least three people were killed and 20 others injured on Thursday afternoon in a violent clash over a long-standing land dispute in Bhundur Char area of Rowmari Upazila, Kurigram.

The incident broke out around 2:00 pm when supporters of two rival groups—one led by Shajahan Mia and the other by Raju Mia—engaged in a deadly confrontation. All three deceased—Nurul Amin (40), Bolu Mia (55), and Ful Babu (50)—are believed to have been supporters of Shajahan.

According to local sources, the dispute between the two families had been simmering for years, with multiple cases already filed over the contested land. Tensions flared when Shajahan’s group went to apply fertilizer on the disputed plot and were intercepted by Raju’s men, triggering the violent clash.

All the injured are currently receiving treatment at Rowmari Upazila Health Complex. A heavy police presence has been established in the area to maintain order, and the situation is reportedly under control.

Rowmari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Lutfur Rahman confirmed that one person has been detained in connection with the incident. “We are working to identify the others involved. Murder cases will be filed after consulting the victims’ families,” he added.
