Crime incidents, including murder, mugging, and snatching, are increasing at an alarming rate across the country ahead of the upcoming major festival Eid-ul-Fitr.
At least three bodies were recovered from two separate spots in the capital city.
On Sunday night, police recovered the hanging body of late renowned filmmaker Sohanur Rahman Sohan’s daughter from a residential hotel in Jatrabari in the capital.
The body was recovered from room 210 of the hotel, adjacent to Cambrian School in Jatrabari.
Sabbir Hossain, Sub-Inspector (SI) at Jatrabari police station, confirmed the matter.
Police say they found the 34-year-old hanging from the window in room 201 of the ‘Rongdhonu Hotel’. Later, the body was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for an autopsy. The SI further said Srishty had left her Uttara home after having an argument with her husband.
Earlier on September 13 last year, Director Sohanoor Rahman Sohan died at 57, a day after his wife’s demise.
Meanwhile, police recovered the bodies of a man and his teenage son from their flat in the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Sunday.
The victims lived on the second floor of a residential building in the Taltala area, said Imran Hossain, assistant commissioner (Tejgaon Zone) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
Moshiur Rahman, 50, was a former assistant engineer at a real estate company, and his son Sadab, 18, was a second-year college student. Besides, his daughter, Synthia, 13, a seventh-grader, was found seriously injured.
