Two separate teams of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested three persons with a huge amount of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) equipment and a thousand of Yaba tablets in the city’s Mirpur and Kamalapur areas on Thursday, RAB and GRP sources said.The RAB’s Legal and Media Wing Director Mufti Mahmud Khan said that a special team of RAB-4 raided Paikpara of Mirpur around 9:30am following a secret information and arrested two persons and recovered the VoIP equipment. The arrested persons have been identified as Badrul Alam, 35, and Najmul Hasan, 35. A case was lodged with the Mirpur Model Police Station in this connection, the RAB official said. In another incident, the GRP’s special team arrested a passenger from Turna Nishitha Inter-City train at the Kamalapur Railway Station around 8:00am. The arrested passenger has been identified as Selim alias Shahin, 38, hailing from Chittagong, the GRP sources said. Â Kamalapur Railway Station’s Officer in-Charge (OC) Abdul Majid confirmed the matter and said that a team of GRP searched the passenger’s body on suspection and recovered one thousand pieces of Yaba tablets from his possession. Â The arrested person is being interrogated in this connection, he said.
