Detectives in Sylhet district held three individuals in possession of 202 sacks of onions, valued at over Tk10 lakh, at Naiorpool point in Sylhet City. The detainees have been identified as Quamrul Islam, 24; Shukkur Ali, 36; and Shanto, 18, all residents of Goainghat upazila within the district.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Detective Branch (DB) of the police stopped a truck around 5:30am on Saturday, discovering it was transporting 10,302 kg of smuggled Indian onions.
Following the seizure, the three individuals were taken into custody. In connection with the incident, a case has been lodged at Kotwali Model police station.
