3 fraudsters held in Ishwardi

Ishwardi Police Station has arrested three members of a fraud ring in Ishwardi on charges of extorting money by promising jobs in the Bangladesh Air Force. The police station OC confirmed the arrest of the fraudsters on Thursday.
They were arrested from a house in Fatehmohammadpur area of the city on Wednesday night. Those arrested include Al Amin (22), son of Azgar Hossain of New Colony, Shihab Hossain (20), son of Bappi Alam, and Md. Nadim Hossain (29), son of the deceased Dils. Three walkie-talkies resembling mobile phones and fake Air Force ID cards were seized from them.
ccording to police and local sources, the fraudsters, posing as Air Force officers, promised to give jobs to the two sons of Fatehmohammadpur resident and workshop businessman Javed Khan as ‘drone guards’. They demanded Tk 10 lakh for this. On April 2, they took Tk 640,000 in cash from Javed and collected the necessary documents for the job. Later, they took another Tk 150,000 by promising ‘verification’ and ‘feeding sweets’. Then, they took the job seekers to Rajshahi, gave them some physical training and gave them some rations. The fraudsters told them that the appointment letters would be issued on May 18. They went to Javed’s house on May 20 with a strange contract. When Javed Khan became suspicious, he filed a complaint with Ishwardi Police Station.
Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shahidul Islam Shahid said, three members of the fraud ring were arrested on Wednesday night after a secret investigation. They were sent to court on Thursday. It is being investigated whether anyone else is involved in the ring.
