To develop the tourism industry in Srimangal, Moulvibazar, Bangladesh Tourism Board and the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism will hold a 3-day long ‘Harmony Festival’ for the first time in the country on January 10-12. The fair will be held at Kakiachhara Government Primary School ground adjacent to Bangladesh Tea Research Center (BTRI) office.
In this conneation, there will be a cultural program of 44 different small ethnic groups as well as an exhibition of various materials made by them. Bangladesh Tourism Board and Srimangal Upazila Administration have made preparations to make this region-based ‘Harmony Festival’ fair a success. Combining the colorful life and culture of the small ethnic groups living in the hills and plains, this Harmony Festival will run from 10 to 12 January from 11 am to 8 pm.
Khasia, Garo, Manipuri, Tripura, Sabar, Kharia, Rikiasan, Baraik, Kanda, Rajbalbab, Bhuiyan, Santal, Orao, Garait, Munda, Kurmi, Bhumiz, Bunaraji, Lohar, Ganju, Kara communities are participating in the festival. Preparations have started to showcase their diverse cultural heritage in every area of Srimangal-Kamalganj.
Various small ethnic groups will be performing cultural programs such as Patra Saora dance and Chadiya dance, Khasi dance of Khasias, Lathi dance of Rikiasans, Jhumur dance of Gargaiks, Kui dance of Kandas, Uriya dance of Rajbalbabs, Bhuiya song of Bhuiyans, Lagde of Santals, dance, Orao dance of Oraos, Garait dance of Garaits, Mundari dance of Munds, Kurmali dance of Kurmis, Bhumij dance of Bhumiz, Oriya bhajan of Bunarajis, Bhujpuri Ramayanartan of Lohars, Ganju dance of Ganjus, Kada dance of Kadars, Dance-song, bow and arrow competition, siat batu (play with slingshot), kyu theneng (oiled bamboo climbing competition), Katharak dance of Tripura community in the traditional dress of Khasias, dia kercha and garlandsBesu Dance, Jum Dance, Gari Puja, Khar Puja, Nak Thapeng Ma Puja, Kadang (Ronpa), Garo Jum Dance, Amoydev (Puja), Grikka Dance (Wrestling), Chawari Sikka (Selection of Bride and Groom), Chambil Dance (Monkey Dance), Mandi Dance, Re Re Songs, Serenging (love story songs), Raslila dance of the Manipuri community, Pung Chalom dance (drum dance), Radhakrishna dance, and Sylhet’s traditional Dhamail dance.
