UNB, Fairdpur :At least 25 people were injured in a clash between the supporters of two candidates in the upcoming upazila elections in Bhanga upazila over a trifling matter on Thursday.Quoting locals, police said a scuffle took place between the supporters of Awami League-backed chairman candidate Jakir Hossain and the ruling party rebel candidate Sahadat Hossain following rivalry between the two groups on Wednesday night.Later an attempt of local elites to settle the dispute failed and both the groups equipped with lethal weapons attacked each other next morning leaving 25 people injured.Being informed, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.The election to the upazila is scheduled to be held today (Saturday).
