Joypurhat, (UNB) – At least 25 people, including Mohila Awami League’s district unit president Rebeka Sultana, were injured as two crude bombs were blasted in a rally organised by the 14-party alliances in the town on Sunday afternoon. Witnesses said two crude bombs were blasted near the podium of the rally around 5:21pm, leaving at least 25 injured. The injured were rushed to Joypurhat Modern Hospital from where seven were shifted to Bogra Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in critical condition. Following the incident, agitated Awami League activists attacked the district BNP office at Station Road and set the office afire. Later, a fire-fighting unit rushed to the spot and doused the flame. The ruling party activists also vandalised a shop and an office owned by local BNP-Jamaat leaders. The district’s superintendent of police Abu Kalam Siddique confirmed the incident saying necessary steps will be taken after investigation.
