At least 25 people including women were injured in a clash between two rival groups over shop rent in Bhairab port town of Kishoreganj on Tuesday night.
The incident took place between the youths of Ramzan Mia’s house and Arai Bepari’s house in Sylhet bus stand area on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway on Tuesday night.
Received on information, Police and Army went to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Among the injured, Shafiq Mia (50), Anik Mia (21), Manik Mia (45), Bhuttu Mia (35), Abdur Rahim (16), Rokeya Begum (45), Sujan (34), Anik Mia (16), Dinar (27), Shraban (21), Sohag (40) and Nadim Mia (30) , Alamgir Mia (40), Kamal Mia (48), Billal Mia (50) and Mehedi (28). They were admitted to Bhairab 100-bed Government Hospital, Zahurul Islam Medical College Hospital in Bajitpur and Private clinics.
Shafiq has been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in a serious condition.
At that time, both sides engaged in a clash with stones, bricks, and sticks.
A CNG pump at the Sylhet bus stand, two restaurants, and several shops and houses were vandalized and looted. Twenty people, including men and women, from both sides were injured.
The Officer in Charge (OC) of Bhairab model Police Station, Khandaker Fuad said, brought the situation under control. Necessary action will be taken based on the complaints from both sides, OC added.
