Twenty-five departments at the university are currently operating with only 32 percent of the required teaching staff. A total of 210 teachers have been appointed to serve approximately 10,000 students. Among them, 54 are on study leave, leaving only 156 teachers actively engaged in teaching across 156 batch programs.

As a result, session congestion has worsened in many departments, significantly hindering academic mobility and increasing frustration among students.

According to the registrar’s office, the organogram requires 493 teachers, while the University Grants Commission (UGC) has sanctioned only 266, which is 54 percent of the required number. As of December 22 last year, 210 teachers had been recruited from the sanctioned posts, leaving 56 teaching positions vacant.

This means that only 43 percent of the approved teachers are currently appointed. With 54 teachers on study leave, the number of actively teaching staff stands at 156, which is just 32 percent of the total required faculty. Currently, there is only one teacher for every 64 students.

Although 52 new teachers were scheduled to be appointed in March and June 2024, the recruitment process has not yet been implemented.

Furthermore, according to the university’s organogram, 49 professor positions are required, but the UGC has only sanctioned 11 posts. Despite being established 14 years ago, the university has only one professor.

An official from the university, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated that the UGC has assured the approval of additional posts once the recruitment process for the sanctioned teachers is complete.

However, as the existing recruitment process remains unfinished, the approval of new positions is also being delayed.
