The National Board of Revenue Board (NBR) has frozen the bank accounts of several showbiz stars on charges of tax evasion.
According to a notification issued by Kazi Rehman Sazid, Assistant Tax Commissioner of Tax Region-12 on June 15, this action has been taken against a total of 25 celebrities of the country.
The NBR has also published a notice to this effect, stating that a total of 25 bank accounts in the zone have been frozen. This list includes popular Dhallywood popular actress Moushumi, film actor Bapparaj, popular face of the new generation actress Nusraat Faria, small screen actress Sabila Nur, actress Nusrat Imrose Tisha, noted film actor Ahhed Sharif, actress Shabnam parvin, and others.
According to the NBR sources, this decision was taken against them due to not paying taxes on time.
An NBR official said, “Some have paid their taxes, while others have taken time off. Once the dues are paid, the bank accounts will be reopened normally.”
However, no official statement has been received from the stars concerned on this issue yet.
Despite multiple attempts to contact the film actress by phone, no response was received from Nusraat Faria.
Moushumi is currently staying in the United States.
