A number of students reportedly fell ill in various educational institutions across the country on Monday due to a severe heat wave sweeping nationwide.
It was known that at least twelve students in Narail, seven in Cumilla, three in Barishal, and one in Bagherhat were among those affected by the intense heat.
In response to the escalating situation of students’ illnesses attributed to the heat wave over the past two days, the High Court on Monday ordered the closure of all educational institutions until Thursday.
The court noted that students and teachers were facing severe difficulties following the reopening of educational institutions across the country, with 18 people reportedly succumbing to heat-related conditions.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education announced the closure of government primary schools until May 2 due to the severe heat wave.
The ministry stated that the decision was made with the students’ health in mind. In a separate announcement on Monday, the Education Ministry stated that educational institutions, including secondary schools, colleges, madrasas, and technical institutions, in 27 districts would remain closed on Tuesday due to the severe heat wave.
