Entertainment Report :
Tension is ramping up in the Bangladesh
Film Development Corporation (BFDC), as 224 of their employees are living inhumane lives, after not receiving their salaries for
three months now. Their repeated visits to the BFDC Managing Director (MD) have not yielded any progress. Earlier on April 6,
they submitted a memorandum to the MD of BFDC. Next Sunday, these employees will again approach the MD to demand their overdue salaries. On behalf of the BFDC employees, Ahsan Habib said that they had not received salaries between January and March. Earlier on, the MD had assured them that they would receive their salaries, but they were only left disappointed. As a result, they have sent a written
memorandum to the MD demanding their rightful wage.”They have given us assurance that they will try to give us good news by next week. However, time and again we have been left disappointed by their false assurances. If they don’t get their overdue salaries by the next week, which will amount to around BDT 1.10 crore, then
224 employees will
go on hiatus,” said Ahsan Habib.
The officers and employees of BFDC
are subordinate to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, but the salaries come from the Ministry of Finance.
