At least 21 leaders and activists of the Awami League (AL) and its affiliated organizations were arrested by the law enforcement agency from different places in the city in the last 24 hours till Sunday afternoon.
Deputy Commissioner of the Media and Public Relations Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Muhammad Talebur Rahman briefed the reporters on the arrests at the DMP Media Centre on Minto Road here.
Separate teams of police arrested them from Paltan, Jhigatola, Wari,
Jurain Railway Line, Nikunja-2, Dakshin Goran, Gulshan, Motojheel, Rupnagar, New Market, Uttarkhan, Uttara, Mirpur, and Demra areas.
Of the detainees, Gias is one of the admin of the propaganda cell of former foreign minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud of the ousted Awami League government. All of the 21 arrestees have been accused in multiple cases.
