Twenty students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) have been awarded the Nagao Natural Environment Foundation (NEF) Scholarship from Japan.
The scholarship handover ceremony for the 7th and 8th batches was held at the university’s council room on Tuesday morning around 12:00am.
JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan distributed the scholarship funds among the recipients and congratulated them on their achievement.
Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor said, “Many students face financial hardship in continuing their academic pursuits and urged that both merit and economic background be considered in scholarship selection.”
JU Treasurer Professor Md. Abdur Rab, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences Professor Mohammad Mafruhi Sattar, Proctor Professor AKM Rashidul Alam, and NEF-JU Convener Professor AHM. Sa’dat Hossain was present at the event.
Teachers and students from the Department of Environmental Sciences also attended the ceremony.
