2 remanded over attack on couple in Uttara

City Desk :

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Saifuzzaman passed the order on Tuesday after the investigating officer sought a seven-day remand to question the two accused, Mobarak Hossain, 25, and Robi Roy, 22.

The defence lawyer applied for bail and requested the remand petition be cancelled, but after the hearing, the judge approved a two-day remand, reports UNB.

A viral video circulating on social media shows two young men, wearing white and olive-coloured shirts, attacking a man and a woman with machetes.

At one point, the woman is seen pleading with the attackers for mercy.
Eventually, locals caught the two gang members, beat them up, and turned them over to the police.

Reports say that on the night of Monday, members of the gang were riding motorcycles on Road No 9 in Sector 7 of Uttara, honking loudly.

Mokbul and his wife Ifti, who were in a rickshaw, protested against the noise.
The gang then gathered around 20-25 members and brutally attacked the couple in public.
The victims filed a case at Uttara West police station the following morning.
