The suspended officers are Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Amir Hossain and Constable Sujan Chandra. Amir Hossain was serving at Rangpur Metropolitan Police Lines, while Sujan Chandra was stationed at Tajhat Police Station.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) of Rangpur Metropolitan Police, Abu Maruf Hossain, confirmed the suspensions on Saturday afternoon.

He stated that preliminary investigations have found allegations against the two officers concerning Abu Sayed’s death. As a result, they have been temporarily suspended. Further actions will be taken once the final investigation report is received. Following the suspension, both officers have been attached to the police lines.

Previously, on July 16, Abu Sayed, a student from the 12th batch of the English Department at Begum Rokeya University, was killed during a clash between police and quota reform protesters. According to the police report, Abu Sayed died from injuries caused by stones thrown by protesters, although he was struck by rubber bullets during the confrontation.
