Sr. Staff Reporter, Kishoreganj :

At least two patients have died due to wrong treatment at Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital (SSNIMCH) in Kishoreganj on Wednesday morning.
The deceased patients are: Mallik (35) and Zahirul Islam (22).
It is learnt that the two patients, Mallik and Zahirul Islam, were admitted to the hospital for hernia surgery on Tuesday . Senior staff nurse Nadira administered anesthesia to the two patients in the ward instead of taking them to the intensive care unit. They lost consciousness and died in the ward half an hour later.
Civil Surgeon( CS) of Kishoreganj, dr.Saiful Islam believe that this incident may have occurred because the patients were given the wrong injection.
Meanwhile, relatives protested and wailed in front of Medical College Hospital over the incident. The area became heated.
Patient’s relative,Mozaffar said that anesthesia injection called ‘Nor Q ‘ was supposed to be injected in the operation theater, but the nurse mistakenly injected it on the ward seat. This led to the accident. The two young men died.
Acting Director of SSNIMCH, dr.Helis Ranjon Sarker told the New Nation that, the concerned nurses had bern removed from duty in this incident. Authorities have admitted to wrong treatment, and formed an investigation committee in the matter.
