Suspiciously attacked the workers engaged in the construction of a two-storied wash block in the school on suspicion of setting fire to the Sarvajan Kali Mandir adjacent to the Panchapalli Government Primary School in MadhukhaliUpazila of Faridpur. 2 construction workers were killed on the spot and 14 people including the OC of Madhukhali police station were injured in the thrashing by the excited crowd. The two brothers killed in the attack are Ashraful Khan (17) and Asadul Khan (15), son of Shahjahan Khan of AmdangaChoperGhat village in Naopara Union of Upazila. Meanwhile, the mob attacked the Panchapally Government Primary School and caused extensive vandalism and attacked the construction workers inside the school, killing and injuring them. The workers were inside a room at the school. Agitated crowd broke the doors, windows and grills of the school and severely beat and injured the workers. The two injured workers, Siraj (45) and Nannu (20), have been admitted to FaridpurBangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Hospital for treatment.
Among the injured are several members including the OC of Madhukhali police station. It is known that the construction of the wash block of the Panchapally Government Primary School adjacent to the local Kalimandi was going on for a few days. A fire broke out at the Hindu-dominated Panchapalli Kali temple on Thursday (April 18) around 7:30 pm. TapatiMandal, the worshiper of the temple, said that in the evening, after lighting a lamp in the temple and throwing dung, on the way back home with wood, the laborers were unloading goods from the nasiman adjacent to the temple and some laborers were inside the school building. Shortly thereafter, the workers started shouting that the temple was on fire. After some time the people of the area left, the girls came home.
Soon after that, the angry crowd attacked the workers engaged in the renovation work. Madhukhali Thana-Police rushed to the spot after receiving the information. The agitated crowd also tried to attack the police while they were rescuing the injured workers, police said.
