Sylhet Bureau :
Two people were killed and at least seven others were injured as a mini truck carrying them overturned after losing control on Sylhet-Tamabil Road of Jaintiapur upazila in Sylhet on Tuesday morning.
The deceased, Jahangir, 30, and Moyamin, 28, were residents of Itapara area of Keraniganj upazila in Dhaka.
The injured – Md Ripon, 22, Rubel Alam, 28, Jahangir Alam, 25, Mintu, 25, and Md Hossein, 27 – are also from the same upazila. Identities of the other injured could not be confirmed immediately.
Md Tajul Islam, officer-in-charge of Jaintiapur police station, confirmed the casualties saying that some people from Keraniganj came to the Hazrat Shahjalal Mazar to offer prayers.
The accident took place at about 9:30am when the truck carrying them overturned on the road after losing control while on its way to Jaflong from Sylhet, leaving the two dead and seven injured, he said.
Initially the injured were taken to Jaintiapur Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital, the OC added.
