Two persons were killed in Nilphamari as arunning intercity train crushed a motor bike carrying the victims at 6.30 am today.
The victims are identified as Bhobesh ChandraRoy (30 ) son of Sentu Chandra and Sontosh Chandra Roy (45 ) son of Kaltu Chandra as both hail from ChawraBorabasaPatowari para village of Sadarupazila. They are day labourersas worked in construction site.
Railway police and eyewitness said that Chilahati bound intercity train Chilahati Express was coming from Dhaka in the morning of today.
At about 6.30 am when it was on the way to stop at Nilphamari rail station and reached near AraziPolasbariKanaikata rail crossing point, it crushed a motor cycle carrying the two ill-fated people.
As a result, both of them killed on the spot and the crashed bike remained hung with the rail engine as locals alleged that the rail crossing was open as has no gate bars Rail station master of NilphamariMithun Roy confirmed the accident and said that it happened few minutes before entering the train at the station.
He also said that the motor bike stuck with the rail engine was removed at the station and then it resumed its journey.
Officer in charge of Saidpur railway police Mahamudunnabi informed that they recovered the dead bodies from the spot and legal process is on to hand over the bodies to the relatives.
