Two people, including a woman, were killed and at least 10 others went missing as two trawlers capsized following a collision in the Shitalakkhya River at Nandia Sanghun of Sreepur upazila on Friday. One of the deceased was identified as Rahima Khatun, 42, wife of Rahim Uddin of Pagla of Narayanganj. Police said a Trimohani-bound trawler from in Sreepur collided with another Barmi-bound trawler from Kapasia in the area around 1 pm. Both the trawlers sank in the river following the collision. Two bodies were retrieved from the river after the accident while 10 others remained missing, said officer-in-charge of Sreepur Police Station Mohsinul Hakim. The rest of the passengers managed to swim ashore, he said, adding that locals launched an operation to rescue the missing people.—UNB, Dhaka.
