2 journalists assulted

An attack has been carried out on two journalists of ‘Amar Desh’ newspaper in Khulna City.

The attack took place under Sultan Dine Restaurant at Shibbari intersection in Khulna City on Saturday afternoon.

The injured are – Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and also Khulna Bureau Chief of Daily Amar Desh newspaper Ehteshamul Haque Shaon and staff reporter Kamrul Hossain Moni.

Eyewitnesses said that some miscreants suddenly attacked the mentioned journalists at around 4:30 pm on Saturday.

The incident has sparked a storm of anger and condemnation in the journalist community.

The leaders of Metropolitan Union of Journalists, Khulna and BFUJ Khulna units and Khanjahan Ali Journalist Unit have demanded immediate arrest of the attackers and exemplary punishment.

Besides, Metropolitan Journalists Union Khulna held a protest rally at the Khulna Press Club premises demanding the arrest of the attackers of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Assistant Secretary General and Khulna Bureau Chief of Daily Amar Deshre Ehteshamul Haque Shaon and staff reporter Kamrul Islam Moni within 24 hours.
