Two individuals have been detained in connection with the recent attack on National Citizens Party (NCP) leader Hasnat Abdullah’s vehicle in Gazipur.

The suspects are identified as Md Nizam Uddin, a leader of the Jubo League from Gazipur Metropolitan Ward No. 13, and Masum Ahmed Dipu, president of the Sheikh Russel Child Youth Council in Kashimpur Thana. Their detention took place on Sunday night, confirmed Gazipur Metropolitan Deputy Police Commissioner Rabiul Hasan.

The incident occurred near Chandna Intersection on Sunday evening while Hasnat, chief coordinator of NCP (South), was returning from an event at Gazipur Agricultural University. According to DC Rabiul, Hasnat’s vehicle was caught in traffic when several men on four to five motorcycles launched the attack.

“He sustained injuries during the assault, and the vehicle’s windshield and windows were shattered. After the incident, Hasnat was safely transported to Dhaka,” the officer added.

In a Facebook post, NCP Chief Coordinator (North) Sarjis Alam stated that a group of 10 to 12 assailants had attacked Hasnat’s car, breaking its glass and injuring him, leaving his hands bloodied. “Those around him must ensure Hasnat’s protection,” he urged.
