2-day long international conference begins at SUST to discuss research and innovation

A two-day long international conference has begun at the initiative of the Faculty of Biology at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology(SUST).
Vice-Chancellor of SUST Professor Dr. A. M. Sarwar Uddin Chowdhury inaugurated the conference titled ‘Current Research, Innovations and Future Perspectives’ at the university’s central auditorium on Friday (October 17) at 9 am. Vice-Chancellor Professor Sarwar Uddin Chowdhury was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Sajedul Karim was present as the special guest.
Sylhet Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor Professor Md. Alimul Islam joined the ceremony as the patron. In addition, Manarat International University Vice-Chancellor Professor Mohammad Abdur Rob, Sylhet Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarwar Alam and Police Superintendent Mahbubur Rahman were present as guests.
The event was convened by Professor Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences.
On the first day, a plenary session was held from 10:45 am to 12:45 pm with the presentation of research papers, which was jointly chaired by Professor Khandaker Moazzem Hossain of Daffodil International University and Professor Md. Abul Kalam Azad of Shabiprabi.
After the lunch break, three parallel sessions on three separate topics will be held from 2:45 pm to 4:45 pm. In the central auditorium, the keynote speaker in the ‘Microbial, Environmental and Industrial Biotechnology’ session was Professor Md. Alimul Islam, Vice Chancellor of Sylhet Agricultural University. The session on ‘Agriculture and Food Biotechnology’ was held in the mini auditorium, where the keynote speaker was Professor Md. Atiar Rahman, Vice Chancellor of Rangamati University of Science and Technology.
On the other hand, the keynote speaker in the ‘Medical, Pharmaceutical and Nano-Technology’ session was Professor Md. Abdul Majid of Jessore University of Science and Technology. 350 poster presentations on various research will be held from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, in which local and foreign teachers and researchers will participate.
Three more parallel sessions ‘Bioinformatics and Computational Biotechnology’, ‘Biochemistry and Molecular Biotechnology’ and ‘Animal Science, Fisheries and Livestock’ will be held from 9 am to 11 am on Saturday (October 18).
The keynote speakers in this session will be Professor Hossain Uddin Sikder, Vice-Chancellor of Gopalganj University of Science and Technology, and Professor Md. Anwarul Azim Akand and Professor Mohammad Roknuzzaman of Jamalpur University of Science and Technology. The award distribution and closing ceremony will be held at the central auditorium of the university on the second day in the afternoon.
On behalf of the conference organizers, Professor Md. Abdullah Al Mamun said that this international conference will discuss in detail the ongoing research, new innovations and future prospects in various branches of biology. It will create an important platform for young researchers to learn, exchange experiences and showcase their research.
