A Mobile Court of Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institute (BSTI) on Wednesday conducted separate drives in the city’s Beily Road and Panthapath areas and ordered the owners of two shops to pay Tk 80,000 as fine for preparing and selling adulterated food items in unhygienic environment. Executive Magistrate Md. Rashedul Quader passed the orders.
The court searched ‘Kepriconrns World’, a shop in the city’s Bashundhara Shaping Mall on the Panthapath and found preparing and selling adulterated Iftar items in unhygienic environment. The Executive Magistrate of the court Md. Rashedul Quader fined the owner of the shop Tk. 50,000 under the Consumers’ Rights Act.
The magistrate said that the shop owner was selling expired products.
The same court conducted another drive at ‘Nababi Bhoj’ on the city’s Beily Road and found preparing and selling adulterated food items in unhygienic environment. The Magistrate of the court fined the owner of the shop Tk. 30,000 under the same act.
