Two brothers were hacked to death in Chuadanga’s Jibannagar upazila on Saturday morning over the previous enmity, police said.
The victims were identified as Anwar Hossain, 55, and Hamza Ali, 45, of Majher Para in Uthali village, said Mamun Hossain Biswas, officer-in-charge of Jibannagar Police Station.
Citing locals, the OC said a dispute had persisted between Hamza and his neighbour Minta over cattle trading. While Anwar and Hamza were working in the fields near Baro Masjid Para, their rivals attacked them with sharp weapons, rods and sticks, leaving both critically injured.
Villagers rushed the siblings to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared one dead on arrival. The other succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment, said Wahid Mahmud Robin, the on-duty physician of the hospital.
Police have launched operations to arrest those involved in the attack, though no case had been filed when this report was filed.
