The district detective police have arrested two drug dealers in Bagerhat with 1,000 pieces of Yaba tablets and Tk 1.63 lakh in cash.
The arrests were made during a raid in the Barashia area under Fakirhat Upazila on Saturday morning.
The arrestees are Monir Sheikh (46), son of late Abdul Hamid Sheikh of Barashia village, and Md Russel Hossain (35), son of Md Razzak Hossain of Attaki village under the same upazila.
Police recovered 1,000 Yaba tablets, Tk 1.63 lakh in cash, one kilogram of marijuana, and a mobile phone used for drug trading from the house of Russel Hossain.
A case has been filed with Fakirhat Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act, and the detainees have been sent to court, said Md Asaduzzaman, Superintendent of Police in Bagerhat.
He added that the arrests were made based on secret information, and the two had been involved in drug trading for a long time.
