‘19th Young Artists Fine Arts Exhibition’ at Shilpakala

The ‘19th Young Artist Fine Arts Exhibition 2014’ is being held at the National Art Plaza Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the city’s Segunbagicha area now.
To showcase the artworks of the young artists, the Fine Arts Department of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has arranged the two-week exhibition.
Earlier, Secretary of the Cultural Affairs Ministry Dr Ranjit Kumar Biswas inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest, while Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky chaired the session.
Veteran artist Qayyum Chowdhury was also present on the occasion and spoke as the special guest.
Artist Khalid Mahmud Mithu and Director of Fine Arts Department of BSA Mohammad Anwer Hossain addressed the occasion, among others.
A total of 197 artworks of 166 young artists have been put on display at the exhibition. The artworks were selected from 1207 works of 528 artists of the country.
A total of eight artworks have been selected for awards in three different categories by artists Shamsudduha, Sheikh Afzal Hossain, Khalid Hasan Mithu and Anisuzzaman.
The awardees are: Anisuzzaman Mamun, Rupom Roy, Polash Barun Biswas, Mohammad Mojahidur Rahman Sarker, Khokon Chndra Sarker, Syed Fida Hossain, Ruhul Amin Tareq and Sumona Akter.
The exhibition is scheduled to remain open for all from 11:00am to 8:00pm every day until June 25. n
