Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Convener Hasnat Abdullah on Sunday said the 1972 “Mujibbadi Constitution” will be buried on Tuesday (December 31) with the Proclamation of July Revolution.

He made these remarks during a press conference at the capital’s Rupayan Tower on Sunday. He said, “We demand that the Mujibbadi Constitution be declared obsolete. The grave of the Mujibbadi Constitution of 1972 will be created at the same place where the one-point declaration was announced.

“We hope that the July Revolution Declaration will declare the Nazi-like Awami League irrelevant in Bangladesh.”

Jatiya Nagorik Committee Chief Organiser Sarjis Alam and Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Chief Organiser Abdul Hannan Masud were also present.

Hasanat said people will gather at the Shaheed Minar on Tuesday to push for the construction of a new Bangladesh based on people’s aspirations.

Sarjis said, “The July Revolution Declaration would serve as a document of historical importance, marking a distinction between the old system that people rejected and the new system that will be implemented. It will guide the new leadership of the country and reflect the hopes and aspirations of people.”

He noted that the declaration should have been made earlier, but due to lack of support from various sectors, the state was not able to move forward.

Abdul Hannan Masud said the Awami League, which he described as a fascist organisation, would be declared irrelevant, and the aspirations of people for a new Bangladesh would be announced.

“Drafts of the declaration have already been sent to various political parties. On December 31, the declaration will be read out, and people from all walks of life, including families of martyrs and political parties supporting the people’s uprising, will gather at the Shaheed Minar,” said Hannan.
