Due to fear of sabotage, violence and curfew surrounding the quota movement, train movement was stopped from the night of July 19. After 13 days of closure, 17 trains started running on the largest Pakshi division of the Western Railway from Thursday (August 1). Mail and local trains ply on this section. Railway Pakshi Divisional Manager (DRM) Shah Sufi Noor Mohammad confirmed the running of the train.
Pakshi Divisional Railway Trafic Officer (DTO) Anwar Hossain said that according to the government guidelines, Mahananda mail train going to Khulna-Chapainawabganj (up-down), Ishwardi to Dhaka local (up-down), Rajshahi-Rahanpur-Chapainawabganj up-down local, Rajbari -Rajbari Express plying between Poradah, Paid Commuter plying between Khulna-Benapole-Mongla, Bhatiapara Express plying between Rajbari-Bhanga-Bhatiapara Ghat (Up Down) IR, Rajbari Express, Bhatiapara Express, Rajbari-Goalandghat-Poradah local train is running.
Pakshi Divisional Assistant Commercial Officer AKM Nurul Alam said that the Pakshi Divisional Commercial Branch has taken action in this regard after receiving the instructions for the movement of trains under Pakshi Railway Division.
Pakshi Divisional Manager (DRM) Shah Sufi Noor Mohammad said that due to the fear of vandalism and curfew, all trains were stopped in Pakshi division from July 19th night i.e. July 20th. At present, as the situation is gradually normalizing, the ministry has decided on July 31 to run some local trains from Thursday.
Following the decision of the ministry, 17 trains are being run. It is hoped that soon it will be possible to run other trains including inter-city.
Related: To maintain the normal supply of fuel oil in the northern region, oil trains started running from Ishwardi Junction on July 22. From July 29, the movement of oil trains as well as freight empty coaches has started. The railway authorities have arranged for piloting with other engines on the railway line before running these trains.
This means that before running these trains, another engine of the train is checked on that line to see if the railway line is fine or not. BGB, police and RNP personnel were deployed for movement of oil and freight MT trains.
