To reduce traffic congestion for Dhaka-bound passengers, stop excessive fare collection and ensure passenger safety, Highway Police Rangpur Region has taken extensive security measures on the Bogra-Rangpur-Sayedpur-Banglabandha highway. Eight special check posts with speed guns have already been set up on the highway. In the last 48 hours, more than a hundred prosecutions have been given against those violating the highway law at these check posts. Joint forces are working at Taraganj, Bara Darga and 10 Mile check posts. 17 people have lost their lives in several accidents on the highway from June 4-10, including some pedestrians.
Highway Police Rangpur Region Superintendent of Police Mohammad Tariqul Islam himself led the special check posts. Then, he visited various counters including the Highway Police and Army at the junction point of Gobindaganj Bazar on the highway and exchanged greetings with the passengers. Additional forces have already been deployed on the Dhaka Mukhi lane on the highway. At important junction points, the Highway Police, District Police and the Armed Forces are working together to decongest traffic and maintain order on the highway. Superintendent of Police Mohammad Tariqul Islam said that in the seven days before and after Eid, 17 people lost their lives in several accidents on the highway from June 4 to 10, including some pedestrians.
