160 ounce gold ornaments hijacked from Morrelganj goldsmith

About 160 ounce gold ornaments, cash Tk.2.5 lakh and a motor-bike were hijacked by the miscreants from a goldsmith and owner of jewelry shop named Milon Karmakar after beating and threatening him shooting to death at Srestadarbari area within Morrelganj Pourashava under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district at Friday night at 9 pm, according to a delayed report received here.
The injured goldsmith was admitted to the Upazila Hospital for his treatment. It is learnt from the injured goldsmith that at the night when he was going home by his motor-bike after closing his jewelry shop (Neeloy Jewelers) at Morrelganj Bazar and when he reached the place of occurrence some 4 unknown miscreants suddenly appeared before him, stopped the motor-bike, turned him down from it (motor-bike), beat him left and right and after threatening shooting him to death snatched away 160 ounce gold ornaments, cash Tk, 2.5 lakh, motor-bike and other belongings from his possession and fled away. In the following (Saturday) morning the hijacked motor-bike which was left abandoned on the bank of the river Panguchi was recovered by the police. But no trace of the cash Taka and gold ornaments was found till the writing of this report.
