Businessmen observed a half-day strike in Rangpur to protest the Israeli aggression and genocide in Gaza, Palestine. All markets and shops of 156 business organisations in the city were closed from 6 am to 1 pm on Wednesday.
Protest rallies were held in front of the city’s supermarket, an effigy of occupying Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was burned, and a prayer mahfil was held in memory of Palestinian martyrs.
Earlier, employees and businessmen closed small and big shopping malls, shopping malls and business establishments in the city since morning and gathered in front of the supermarket with a protest procession.
They participated in the protest rally there in solidarity with the half-day strike.
Later, a protest rally was held under the initiative of the Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Shop Owners’ Association. At the end of the rally, prayers were offered for the souls of the martyrs.
Many people became emotional and prayed to Allah for the Palestinians.
Later, a huge procession with all those who participated in the protest rally circled the main roads of the city.
The rally was addressed by: Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Akbar Ali, while the rally was presided over by JoynalAbedin, General Secretary of the Metropolitan Shop Owners Association, Tanbir Hossain Ashrafi, Joint General Secretary, Rashiduzzaman Bulbul, General Secretary of the Supermarket Shop Owners Association, Alamgir Hossain Alam, Joint General Secretary of the District Shop Owners Association, Emdad Hossain, Director of the Rangpur Chamber, Abdul AlimBulu, Organizer of the Jewelry Traders Association, Mokhlesur Rahman, Joint General Secretary of the Motorcycle Parts Traders Association, etc.
Thousands of people from various classes and professions, including leaders of 156 business organizations in Rangpur city, teachers and students, doctors, journalists, civil society representatives, politicians, and others, participated in the strike.
