For just Tk 112 in application fees, the Narayanganj District Administration has completed transparent and swift recruitment for 14 posts in seven categories under its revenue division. On Monday (November 3), Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Mia handed over the appointment letters to the selected candidates. A total of 1,233 candidates applied. The written test was held on October 24, results were announced the same day, and after the oral exams on October 28 and background checks, appointments were finalized. Habib Ullah from Araihazar said the process was fully transparent and hassle-free. Another recruit, Zubaida Marufa, said she was impressed by the speed and fairness, adding that such recruitment restores faith in government jobs. Another successful candidate, Jubaida Marufa, echoed a similar sentiment: “The recruitment process was completely transparent and finished in a very short time. I’ve never heard of such a quick and fair process before. If this continues, only the truly qualified will move forward, which is how it should be.”
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah emphasized that their goal was to challenge the long-standing perception of corruption and nepotism in government recruitment. “In our society, government jobs are often associated with ‘ifs’ and ‘buts.’ We wanted to break that mindset. From the very beginning, we took a pledge that this recruitment would be completed with full integrity for just Tk 112 and we have kept that promise. At every stage, we ensured transparency and accountability.”
He further added, “The spirit of the July Movement was that our young people would get government jobs based on merit and qualification. It was our moral duty to carry out this recruitment process with 100% transparency and fairness. Now, we expect the appointed candidates to serve the public with full dedication and sincerity.”
