1,325 farmers get free fertiliser, seeds

1,325 farmers of Chitalmari Upazila in Bagerhat district were received free fertilizer, Aman rice seeds and coconut seedlings. These agricultural materials were distributed from the premises of the Upazila Agriculture Department at 10 am on Monday (June 30). Tapas Pal, UNO (Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Chitalmari distributed these materials as the chief guest.

Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Sifat-al-Marf told, various programs are being implemented in this Upazila this year under the incentive program from the agricultural rehabilitation sector. As a part of this, 5 kgs of Aman rice seeds, 10 kgs of DAP fertilizer and 10 kgs of MOP fertilizer were distributed to 825 farmers in 7 Unions of the Upazila on Monday morning. On the same day, 5 per person were distributed to 500 farmers and 5 per school were distributed to 54 educational institutions.

In addition, 5 mango seedlings will be distributed to 50 farmers, 4 seedlings each (Margosa, Blackberry, Wood-apple and jackfruit) to 1,000 students, vegetable seeds (spinach, gourd, rice, pumpkin and sweet pumpkin) to 120 farmers and 140 palm seedlings to various institutions (mosques, temples, Madrasas and Schools) will be distributed free of charge.

Upazila Livstck Officer Ahmed Iqbal, Upazila Agricultural Extension Officer Krishibid Md. Habibur Rahman, Upazila Engineer Md. Saddam Hossain and Social Service Officer Md. Sohel Parvez were present at the fertilizer, seed and sapling distribution ceremony, among others.
