131 joint secretaries promoted to addl secy

In a latest reshuffle in the administration, the government has promoted 131 joint secretaries to additional secretaries, raising the number of additional secretaries to 524.

The Public Administration Ministry issued a notification in this regard on Sunday.

This the biggest reshuffle in the civil administration since the interim-government led by Nobel Laureate Prof. Dr Muhammad Yunus took charge on August 8.

The new promotions were disclosed through a notification of the Public Administration Ministry on Sunday.

Those who have been promoted have been made officers in charge of the Ministry of Public Administration. They will be attached to their respective officer later, according to the notification.

According to the order, the promotions will be backdated to when each official was first surpassed by a junior colleague, ensuring that they receive all due financial entitlements from that point onward.

Officials who have had their workplace or department changed since their initial promotion eligibility must submit their joining report with the updated office address.

Besides, the order notes that if adverse or conflicting information about any promoted official emerges, the promotion may be revised or cancelled.

The order also directs any promoted official currently on lien or study leave to notify the authorities rather than report for duty.

Promoted officials are required to submit their joining reports directly to the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, either in person or via the specified email: [email protected].
