13 more dengue cases reported

Thirteen more new dengue cases were reported in the 24 hours leading up to Tuesday morning, bringing the total number of cases to 1,661 this year.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), new cases were reported as follows: one in Barishal Division (Out of CC), eight in Dhaka Division (Out of CC), three in Dhaka South City Corporation, and one in Khulna Division (Out of CC).

The number of deaths remained at 13, with no new fatalities reported during this period, the DGHS added.

Currently, 91dengue patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.
Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 575 people.

According to the DGHS, there were 101,214 dengue cases and 100,040 recoveries in the same year. Dengue is a viral infection transmitted to humans through an infected mosquito bite. This vector-born disease is common in tropical and subtropical regions, mainly in urban and semi-urban locations. The leading carriers of the disease are Aedes aegypti mosquitoes; however, the Aedes albopictus mosquitoes can carry the germ of dengue
