The court sentenced 10 people to life imprisonment in the murder case of farmer Samsul in Khetlal upazila of Joypurhat.
At that time, the court sentenced each of them to 2 years rigorous imprisonment without paying a fine of Tk 50,000.
On Monday (June 03) at 12 o’clock, Additional Sessions Judge of Joypurhat 1st Court Judge Mo Nurul Islam gave this verdict.
The convicts are Chhabdul, son of Hafez Uddin, Chhabdul’s wife Fatema Begum, sons Helal, Alam Hossain, Idris Ali, Rezaul Islam, Alam Hossain’s wife Farzana Begum, Helal Hossain’s wife Lilifa Begum, Amez Uddin’s son Helal Uddin and Ziaul Haker of Hafez Uddin’s village in Mohabbat Pur village of Khetlal Upazila of Joypurhat.
As the charges were not proved at this time, Milan Hossain, son of Abdus Samad Mandal and Abdul Hamid, son of Bachir Uddin, were acquitted.
According to court sources, on October 31, 2011, Maqbul Islam went to prepare the land with his son Samshul Islam and Ala Uddin.
At that time the accused attacked them with locally made hasua, da, spade, iron rod and baton as per pre-planned.
When Samchul Islam was seriously injured, he was admitted to the 250-bed General Hospital at Joypurhat.
Later, he was transferred to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (Shajimec) Hospital in Bogra, where he died while undergoing treatment.
