1 killed in boarding bridge wheel explosion at Osmani Airport

A technician named Roman Ahmed (23) was killed when the wheel of the boarding bridge (stairs to board the plane) exploded at Sylhet Osmani International Airport. Another person was seriously injured.

The incident took place inside the airport on Thursday (July 31) afternoon. It is learnt that the deceased Roman Ahmed was working as a technician at Osmani Airport under the supervision of Sunrise Company as an outsourced worker.

Osmani International Airport Director Hafiz Ahmed confirmed Roman’s death.
He said that 5/6 people were repairing the wheel of the airport’s boarding bridge stairs. At that time, the wheel burst (exploded) and two people were seriously injured. They were immediately taken to Osmani Medical College Hospital and shifted to the ICU in a serious condition. Roman died at around 3:30 pm while undergoing treatment. Another seriously injured person is undergoing treatment.

He also said, ‘This is a routine job. For this job, a company called Sunrise has contracted manpower to work. The reason for this sudden accident is being investigated. However, there was no damage to the airport or the aircraft in the accident. However, the incident is extremely unfortunate.
