1 killed, 22 others injured in Fakirhat road mishap

One passenger was killed on the spot and 22 others were injured when a Dhaka bound passenger coach of “Dola Paribahan” and another passenger coach of “Rajib Paribahan”bound for Benapol border collided by side on Khulna-Dhaka Highway at Faltita wholesale fish market under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district on Saturday (July 13) in the morning at 6-30 am. The killed passenger of Rajib Paribahan was identified as Sreedhar Ganguly (45), son of one Guni Ganguly hails from the village Debogram under Kotalipara Upazila in Gopalganj distriict. Shaikh Nuruzzman, Officer-in-charge of Mollahat Highway PS (in Bagerhat district) confirmed the matter and told, the road mishap was taken place when the Dola Paribahan coach was going from Bagerhat to Dhaka and when it reached the place of occurrence the Rajib Paribahan coach that was going from Dhaka to Benapol border town also reached the same place and they were crossing each other cautiously. But in spite of that they were collided by the side.
As a result, Dola Paribahan skidded off the road and fell into a road side ditch and consequently, one passenger of Rajib Paribahan was killed on the spot and some 22 passengers of both coaches were injured and the drivers and thje helpers of both coaces fled away.
The police officer added, both the coaches were seized by the police and the dead body was taken to the Highway PS and after completing the spot verification report and other legal proceedings the dead body will be handed over to the relatives.
