A youth was killed over a land dispute in Gowainghat, Sylhet.
The incident took place in the Aharkandi area of Jaflong Union of the upazila around 9 am on Wednesday (October 29). The deceased’s name is Md. Ali alias Al Amin (30). He is the son of Mustafa Mia of Aharkandi village.
Citing local sources, the police said that Mustafa Mia and Nur Hossain’s people got into a clash over the area behind the market shop in the morning. Mustafa Mia’s son Al Amin was seriously injured in the incident. Later, locals took him to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.
In this regard, Gowainghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tariqul Islam Talukder said that two people were initially arrested from the scene and country-made weapons were recovered. The situation is currently under control. He said that the body of the deceased has been kept at the Osmani Hospital morgue.
